SB 75 Automated Speed Enforcement: Speed Detection Devices and Red Light Cameras Standards

Staff Contact
GMA Position: Monitoring
GMA Summary

This bill aims to modify the use of speed cameras in school zones by requiring that signs displaying the reduced speed limit in a school zone be placed half a mile before the zone begins. It also mandates that signs warning of automated traffic enforcement devices be placed a quarter mile before the device. Both signs must feature flashing yellow lights to signal when the speed limit is reduced and when the automated device is active and issuing citations.

Additionally, the bill limits the enforcement times, specifying that enforcement of the reduced speed limit cannot vary for more than one hour at a time, and no more than twice a day.
